Greenbox Cylinder
I'd like to strike a balance between drawing real objects that I see and random things from my imagination. If I only do still life, it will probably get a little boring. If I do no still life, then I won't feel confident when I do wish to draw things I see.
These shapes look so basic, that I could have just been drawing imaginary shapes, but in this case it is still life. There is a green box with a cylinder in it on the desk by my bed.
You'll find that I don't care if I can't erase lines. Normally it would be advantageous to use a pencil so I could erase that line from the box that goes through the cylinder. If I was producing finished artwork, this might matter. For my gesture sketches, I simply don't care. The less I care about such things, the less inhibited I'll be from sketching.
If I put a line in the wrong place, I can also just redraw it in a new position, leaving the incorrect ghost as evidence of my inability to position things correctly. No whiteout, no erasing. It no longer bothers me a bit.
