Craft Table Mess
At first glance, this sketch might look worse than the previous one. In a sense, that might be true. It is less controlled and less recognizable. However, I like it better. I think the proportions of the objects are likely more accurate overall than Me. It's hard to tell what anything is because it's so quickly sketched, a gesture drawing. But I'm OK with it.
While I can't identify every object from memory, some of the things are:
- the grid of my cutting mat
- large paintbrush
- utility knife
- ruler
I might be able to cheat because I have been trying to remember to take photos of each scene so I can later look and compare my sketches to the subject. But I won't cheat. I honestly don't remember which random objects were sitting on my craft table at the time.
Most of the time I draw with a black pigment liner. There is no particular advantage to use another pen such as this pink InkJoy Gel pen. The primary reason I chose pink instead of black, aside from variety, is that it is a retro throwback for me. Some of my first ink drawings were done with random colored pens back in high school. I drew silly faces in the margins of my history textbook and other school publications. I like how they looked in different colors at the time - sort of like sepia tone - but any random monochrome color instead.
