Manga Deny Colored

The final stage of my first purposeful manga project. The ink sketch was scanned and touched up. Some lines were erased and redrawn, others were cleaned up. Paint Shop Pro's airbrush brought in the color. Finally, an art medium simulation was applied throughout to give the image consistency and texture.

The girl is supposed to be my wife at a young age. The monkey is Fred, one of our stuffed monkeys. In this imagined world (entered by way of a dream or a fantastic inter-dimensional portal), my wife has returned to her childhood, yet Fred is older, less mischievous and more helpful. Adorned with strange and delightful genie-like magic tricks (that he mostly tries to disguise as coincidental happenings), Fred favors and accompanies the girl in her adventures, magically appearing at opportune moments, much like a fairy.
